Here is my first Kids Clothes Week show and tell. It's a girl's keyhole blouse of my own design.
I've had a sketch of this blouse in my little notebook and it's been taunting me for ages: "Make me! Make me!"
(Talking notebooks are probably the result of too many late nights, but I digress....) So this challenge provided exactly the sort of mental kick-start I needed to get the pattern drafted up.
The paisley fabric is divine in real life but is a tricky subject to photograph. A bit busy, perhaps, and really hard to get a true-colour image of. Anyway, I'm so happy with the way it looks and think the top is just perfect for wearing over jeans as the weather gets cooler here Down Under (if this Indian Summer ever ends!).
It's not actually finished yet. If you look closely you can see that I haven't hemmed it and, also, I'm not sure whether to leave the bottom of the sleeves loose or to elasticise the wrists. Hmmm.
Thanks to Elsie Marley for hosting this fabulous challenge. Making stuff for kids is, after all, the reason why a lot of us started or continue to sew. I'm a bit in awe of her long list of WIPs for the week. I will probably do a "lite" version of the challenge as I have just one more thing that I hope to make. Stay tuned and good luck if you're joining in!
I love it Marina! I want one!!

Lovely, lovely, lovely! I make a simliar one out of Japanese linen and elasticise the sleeves. But bell sleeves are gorgeous too! Hope your week is a wonderful one :)

This is lovely!
Clever you drafting your own patterns for kids clothes week. I am doing basic old favourites as I am far to lazy.
Oh and I would leave the sleeves loose if it was for Lottie but elasticise them for Kitty. I just know Lottie would only wear them loose.
