Where has this week gone? Friday seems to have arrived in the blink of an eye and I've been meaning to post about the "Stash & Treasure Market" last weekend.
As you can see from the image below, the lovely Marrickville Town Hall is a grand old place and the perfect venue for this type of market. It's exclusively for recycled creative, craft, art & sewing supplies - the perfect type of niche market in my book!

Suzy and Mel were sharing a stall just behind me and it was great to have a little chat with them from time to time as well as with lots of the other stall-holders and enthusiastic buyers.
Lots of people asked me why I was selling my fabric. Truth is, I acquired way too many smaller cuts of patchwork fabric in the early days when I was making cushions, bags and softies. Nowdays I make mainly clothes for myself, the girls and samples for my patterns. What I need are dressmaking fabrics in larger yardages. So....out with the old and in with the new!
On that note, I was very restrained and bought only this lovely old piece of 1950's vintage roses cotton and a couple of $2 patterns. The fabric is over 2m in length - am dreaming up dress ideas as we speak.
To quote my little helper's words as we were driving home: "Mum, that was a great success!"
Yes it was, and we left with a much lighter load of fabric than the one we arrived with....

Oh...that fabric makes my heart SING. Great score. I so wanted to go to that market, but...well, best not, really. :) Far too dangerous.

I do love Marrickville Town Hall. I had all my high school concerts there. I remember sitting up in the balcony there, full of excitement....thats going back a while now!
Glad the market was a success, wish I hadn't missed it.
