Miss Wink has been badly in need of some winter pants for kindy and general knocking about.
It's hard to find jeans that fit her and I don't like the fussiness of flies and excess fabric around the waist that seem to be the feature of most store-bought styles. What to do? Make some ourselves of course....
These are the made from the Easy Fit Pants pattern by Scientific Seamstress. This is the perfect pattern for toddlers who need roominess for both flexibility during play and to accomodate nappy bulk. (I think my big girl would run a mile from this style, though, as she's all about the slim-fit pant at the moment!)
In terms of cutting and sewing it really doesn't get any easier than this. Because the design has an equal rise at both front and back and no side seams there's just one pattern piece which is cut on the fold for both pant legs.
I added a small contrast band in linen and trimmed the seams with some lace.
The only small downside for me was that the pdf pattern file was an overwhelming 105 pages (due to lots of sizing and customising information) which made it tricky at first to get straight to the pages and instructions that I needed.
A happy week to all!
