Am just dipping my toes in the water when it comes to sewing with knits and here is the first (cautious) project I'm posting: some little spotty leggings.
It's actually another first for me: the first time I used a pattern from my Ottobre subscription.
Like Japanese pattern books, with Ottobre you have to be prepared to dive in and decipher the seething mass of lines criss-crossing each other and vying for your attention! Once done, you are off and running....
These are the "Lola" leggings from the Ottobre 3 2009 issue.
I try to make it a rule to use inexpensive fabrics for all my "firsts" these days and am glad I did this time around.
The size which corresponded to Miss Wink's height were far too snug and were more like tights than leggings so they were left unhemmed and put aside. I then made some in the next size up - much better.
Here we are sporting a super-cheeky grin to finish off the photo shoot:
The verdict? Not too scary! Will try again. Maybe a t-shirt next time?
