After taking the photos it occurred to me that this Amy Butler fabric from the Lotus collection would be perfect for making a yoga bag. But I digress, and as no yoga is being practiced by yours truly at this point in time, I used it to make the Flea Market Bag from Grand Revival Designs.
The style I chose was the small bag with shorter strap. The size of the bag is perfectly proportioned for the vertically challenged amongst us (!) - nothing worse than making a huge bag with long straps that has it trailing around the ankles!
I really liked this pattern and will make it again. The pattern was clear and easy to make and you could go for either the more formal, structured look (by adding substantial interfacing) or more casual and slouchy (by using light interfacing). Usually I do cotton canvas linings but this time experimented with quilted calico which gives quite a bit of body without being stiff.
On the subject of Amy, am loving the new Midwest Modern range - all totally gorgeous!
